September- We will complete this report in class. This way the students know what to expect. October- Students will choose a mystery genre. It must be level 4 reading. (Example- Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys) Students must include a cover page, with an illustration, author, setting, main characters, summary, conclusion, and recommendation. This is to be typed and will need to be in full sentences. Due October 27th November- Students will receive more information on this, however, we will be doing a Research paper on Native Americans. This will be a FUN Research paper that is created on a plate. Students must cite the resources on the back of the plate. Due November 29th December- Students will choose a holiday themed book. Level 4 reading. (Example- The Last Holiday Concert, Christmas Eve) This must be typed. Students will follow same criteria for September and October's Book Report. January- Let's celebrate Black History Month! Students will pick a famous African American and read a book about them. They must then write a report about this special individual including interesting facts; birth date, birth place, and more. The students will be graded on the written as well as the oral presentation. Make sure you cite anything that is not done in your own words. Due January 27th February- Let's read about current events in a newspaper and create our own. Make sure you site your article. This must be typed. More information to follow. Due February 28th March- State Project- Mrs. Healey and Mrs. Wildenhain will pick out a state for each child to complete a report on. Students must include facts about the state. (example: flower, capital, statehood, fun facts) Students will need a poster board and will create a board using this information as well as pictures. Make sure you site this information on the back of the posterboard. Students will receive two grades- oral and posterboard- so BE CREATIVE! Due March 29th April- Book Report- Students will pick a level 4, free choice book. Please follow criteria from previous book report. Due on April 30th May/June- Students will have to do a research project on The Human Body. More information will be given as the time gets closer. This project is due June 1 st. |
