This week we will begin to "ramp" up the spelling words.  They will be more challenging.  The students will still be working in their workbooks with the words that go along with their anthology for the week but they will also be working on words from another book.  They will be tested on the "harder" words but will still be responsible for knowing the ones in their book.

The U.S. map test is scheduled for May 16.  The students will have to be able to place every state and its capital on a map.  As the United States map was a major focus in Social Studies this year, the test will count for two grades.

Final exams are scheduled for June.  More information is to follow.

Our 14th annual Golf Tournament and Silent Auction is quickly approaching!! It will be held on May 19, 2012 at Segregansett Country Club in Taunton, MA. In order for our outing to be a success we need golfers and dinner guests. Please consider putting together a foursome ($100 each includes box lunch, golf cart, golf fees and steak dinner) or join us for a delicious steak dinner ($35) and the silent auction. We have a number of auction and raffle items—a 4 night stay in Cozumel, Mexico, CCRI Basketball Camp, Disney Park Hopper Tickets, Bus Trip for 4 to New York City and foursome certificates to local private and public golf courses.

Our class is hosting the last mass of the school year.  I will be chosing students who have not yet participated in any mass as of yet.  (Saints mass, Dec. 8 mass, Mother's Day mass)

Our magazine drive is an ongoing fundraising event.  Subscriptions may be purchased throughout the year under the St. Rose account.  To order simply log onto www.QSP.com , find St. Rose of Lima, and plug in our account number which is 1091410.

Engrade is up and running.  You can view you child's grades using the code that Mrs. Henchy sent home.  If you see an "M" as a grade, that means that your child is missing an assignment.  That M gets factored in as a zero.  With both of us on their tails for the assignment, me at school and you at home, we should be successfulThey will however, lose points for being late.  You may notice grades coming home without the assignment attached to it.  This is because I am saving them to put into a portfolio at the end of the year.  You will have hours of reading enjoyment in June.  :)

Our weekly schedule looks like this: Mon. - Library
                                                                Tues. - Spanish and music
Wed. -  Computer and Gym with 4A
                                                                Thurs. -  Gym alone
                                                                Fri. - Art
Spelling tests will be on Friday's unless otherwise specified.  We will also have weekly reading tests on Friday's.  These tests are designed to make sure students have learned the reading concepts for the week.  These tests consist of a series of language arts questions and a writing prompt. I will send the student evaluation sheet home for you to view.  I will keep the tests for my files.

My help sessions will be held Thursday's after school from 2 - 2:30.  This time is for any student who is in need of extra support with concepts we are learning in the classroom.   A student can come as often as needed.

God Bless,
